What airport should I fly into?

Students flying should arrive at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). Charlotte, NC is located approximately one and a half hours away from Blair, SC. So that you may plan your flight accordingly, our workshops begin Thursday morning and end Sunday around noon. Therefore you should plan for a flight that arrives in the evening the day before a workshop, and departs after 5:00 pm on Sunday.

Do you have an airport shuttle?

Yes. For a small fee, you may arrange transportation with our shuttle service. Our shuttle service runs after 3:30 pm the day before each workshop for airport pickups, and returns to Charlotte for airport drop-offs at 4:00 pm on the Sunday after classes. For those wishing to depart on Monday, the shuttle larrives at Charlotte airport after 1pm. Please speak to one of the staff members by phone for more details. 803-635-8060

Is it true that your new school has on-site lodging and catered meals?

Yes. We offer private lodging and 3 meals per day for $140. For our four-day workshops, the lodging and meals are covered in our all-inclusive package. Please note: The nearest hotels and restaurants are 25 miles away, so we strongly recommend our lodging and meal package.

We have two 4000 square-foot buildings, designed to house up to 9 students each. The buildings are situated approximately 2500 feet apart and features cozy private bedrooms, each with a full private bath.

We also offer three meals per day. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served family-style so that students and staff may dine together. All meals are included in the residence fee. Homecooked meals are prepared by a local chef who caters to our location. Snacks and a coffeemaker will also be provided in the conference room which adjoins the studio classroom. Individual meal alterations will be made for students with special dietary needs.

What do your meals include? What if I have special concerns or dietary needs?

We will make our menu available to you before the workshop. If you have any specific concerns or dietary needs, please contact us at 803-635-8060 so that a suitable alternative may be arranged.

Will I have to bunk with someone or will I have a private room?

You will have your own private bedroom and your own full private bathroom.

May I bring someone with me although they will not be attending the workshop?

Due to the intense nature and remote setting of our workshops, we will be unable to provide accommodations for persons not attending. For non-participants wishing to stay in the area, the town of Newberry or Winnsboro (both approximately 24 miles from Blair) have several options. Please call us for a list of local hotels. 803-635-8060

What are your policies on smoking, drugs, and alcohol?

For the comfort and safety of all participants, smoking is not allowed inside any buildings owned or operated by the Blair School of Art. Covered outdoor areas with ashtrays will be provided for your convenience. We have a zero tolerance policy on drug use on or around the campus. Anyone using drugs will be asked to leave immediately without a transfer or refund. Alcohol consumption in moderation may be tolerated at the discretion of our staff.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is always a waiting list for each class, so filling a seat opened by a cancellation is not a problem. However, arranging last minute flights and accommodations can cause hardship for waiting students. We ask for as much notice as possible should a student wish to cancel a class so that students on the waiting list will have ample time to make travel arrangements.

~If a cancellation notice is received by us more than 60 days prior to the start of the student's purchased class, he/she may receive a full refund (less a 7% processing fee: Typically between $50 and $200), or he/she may transfer the full purchased amount to another class.
~ If a cancellation notice is received by us between 30 and 60 days prior to the start of the students purchased class, he/she may receive a refund of 50% of the purchased amount, or he/she may transfer the full purchased amount to another class.
~ If a cancellation notice is received by us between 15 and 30 days prior to the start of the students purchased class, he/she will not receive a refund but may transfer 50% of the purchased amount to another class.
~ If a cancellation notice is received by us less than 15 days prior to the start of the students purchased class, he/she will not recieve a refund or a transfer.
